The XX that I bought did have some wear away on the spots where your palms hold the system. There were no scratches on the screens, nor were there scratches on the outer shells. To be specific and peculiar, the matte surface of the lower face was still matte around the digital pad and the buttons, whereas in many cases you'll find those spots to be "polished" away on most used handhelds. I just bought two systems via eBay, and neither had any discernable wear to the button surfaces.
